Brooklyn tough guy who entered Harvard University at the tender age of 16. His active duty in the Phillipines inspired his first novel, The Naked and the Dead. Co-founded the counter-culture rag The Village Voice from which he spawned the New Journalism movement. Stabbed his second wife twice. He dreamed of stabbing Marilyn Monroe.
